, Cantrex PrimeTime 2025: A look back at an inspiring event filled with learning, connection, and collaboration in Montreal., Cantrex Nationwide

Energy was high and momentum strong as Cantrex Nationwide welcomed independent retailer-members, vendors, and partners from across Canada to Cantrex PrimeTime 2025, held September 28–30 at the Westin Montreal and the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

Under the theme “Together, We Move Forward,” this year’s event centered on one of the most significant forces reshaping retail — the dual disruption of tariffs and artificial intelligence — and how independent retailers can adapt, evolve, and grow in a rapidly changing business landscape.

“Independent retailers are navigating an era of tremendous change — from global trade pressures to the rise of AI,” said Jeannine Ghaleb, President & Chief Operating Officer, Cantrex Nationwide. “At Cantrex, our focus is to help our members face these shifts with clarity and confidence. PrimeTime is where strategy turns into action — where our community learns, connects, and builds what’s next, together.”

The general conference invited attendees to take a candid look at how economic and technological forces are reshaping their day-to-day realities. A dedicated AI for Independent Retailers session demonstrated practical tools and use cases to help business owners work smarter and engage customers in new ways. Equally vital was the Cybersecurity session, reinforcing how every business — regardless of size — can strengthen its digital defences with simple, proactive steps.

A conference highlight was the keynote presentation by Robert Hogue, Assistant Chief Economist at RBC, whose State of the Economy address offered a grounded, forward-looking perspective on Canada’s economic landscape — valuable context for strategic planning heading into 2026.

Beyond the formal sessions, Cantrex PrimeTime once again showcased what makes this network special — its people. The Member Round Table discussions inspired open exchange among independent retailers across the country, reinforcing the value of collaboration and collective learning. And the Kickoff Cocktail & Gala lived up to its reputation as a highlight of the event, bringing together members, vendors, and the Cantrex team in an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration — a reminder that while the industry evolves, lasting relationships remain central to success.

The Buying Show drew over 400 attendees and featured more than 50 exhibitors across major product categories — including appliances, bedding, furniture, electronics, photography, outdoor, and home accessories — alongside key retail service providers.

Nearly one-third were new exhibitors, bringing fresh ideas and energy into the fold, while long-standing partners reaffirmed their commitment to supporting independent retailers and driving shared growth. Throughout the day, exhibitors and retailers connected in meaningful discussions, explored opportunities, and took advantage of exclusive Cash Back deals and Show Specials — tangible proof of the Cantrex community in action.

Cantrex PrimeTime 2025 reaffirmed the power of partnership, innovation, and shared purpose. In an era of rapid change, the Cantrex community continues to demonstrate resilience and collaboration — proving that moving forward together isn’t just a theme; it’s a shared commitment.

The Cantrex Nationwide team sincerely thanks all of this year’s attendees for their trust and continued loyalty.
